Conceptual photography illustrates the idea of a photographer. In some facts an image talks. A single image can give a lot of meanings. Conceptual photography can be done in two ways_ capturing a photograph in a conceptual way and edit a photograph to describe either a methodology or a genre. 

Conceptual photography is the opposite of journalism photography or eCommerce photography. The common photograph is the visualization of a scene or product. On the other hand, conceptual photography depicts certain aspects of society or life. Conceptual photography is much more deliberate and has a specific outcome in mind. This type of photography allows a photographer to show their creativity which makes them different from an ordinary photographer. 

In this tutorial, I will show some conceptual photographs and describe the meaning of the photograph.

Poverty

This image is a black and white photograph. Just only two hands holding some coins. This conceptual photograph has a great meaning! An old man hands holding some coins showing the poorness or poverty. Half of our world population live in under poverty. This photo could be in colour but the black and white give a perfect outlook for building up the meaning of ‘Poverty’.

Loneliness

In this photo, there is a boy sitting in front of a big screen looking at the floor. This is the symbol of feeling loneliness. In normal life people seat in front of a big screen to enjoy a movie with his friends or family. The screen also showing nothing. He is so alone that he has nothing to enjoy seating alone in front of a big screen. Photographers can capture this type of conceptual photograph to show the meaning of ‘Loneliness’.

Time

This photograph shows a man is sitting in a chair in front of a table. On the top of the table, there is a clock showing the time. This image is actually showing the value of time. Time is running and the man is looking at it. The first valuable thing for a man is Life and the second one is Time. There is a proverb “Time and Tide wait for none” and the image is showing the perfect meaning for this proverb. For conceptual photography, this image can be one of the best examples. Because this photo gives a lot of meaning.

Pain of Love 

In this photograph, a boy standing in a sad mood holding a red rose to target in his head like a gun. The red rose is the symbol of love and holding like a gun shows the pain of a lover. The sad face also clarifies the meaning of this photograph. This image is one of the best examples of Conceptual photography. Love is like a coin. While there is happiness on one side of the coin, there are sorrows on the other side of the coin. A photographer can use this type of concept to shows the pain of love.

Women’s Rights

There is a sad girl sitting in a prison closing her eyes. This can be the symbol of violation of women’s rights. There are millions of women in this world are hostile in their society. They are not allowed to work outside as well as they do not get equal rights to man. As a photographer, if you want to capture a photo to show the concept of women’s rights, this photo subject can be the best to be followed. There is little light coming from the top. This is showing the hope of life. This light is keeping her alive.
